This Saturday, more than 1,120 freshmen will arrive in Rolla to jumpstart their academic careers during Opening Week at Missouri S&T.
The Central Ozarks Section of the Miner Alumni Association at Missouri University of Science and Technology and the Rolla Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) will hold their annual shrimp feed on Saturday, Aug. 29, at pavilion 5 of Lions Club Park on U.S. Highway 63 in Rolla. Pavilion 5 is located at the front of the park. The event begins with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

Dr. Patrick Huber, associate professor of history and political science at Missouri S&T, received the Belmont Book Award for Best Book on Country Music. The award was presented at the group’s 2009 conference, held in Nashville in May.

The award is given to the best book on any historical topic written by a Missouri resident published in 2008.
