Shrimp feed planned by Miner alumni and MSPE

The Central Ozarks Section of the Miner Alumni Association at Missouri University of Science and Technology and the Rolla Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) will hold their annual shrimp feed on Saturday, Aug. 29, at pavilion 5 of Lions Club Park on U.S. Highway 63 in Rolla. Pavilion 5 is located at the front of the park. The event begins with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

History tome earns international country music award

A Missouri S&T historian garnered recognition for his latest book from the International Country Music Conference this May. Dr. Patrick Huber, associate professor of history and political science at Missouri S&T, received the Belmont Book Award for Best Book on Country Music. The award was presented at the group’s 2009 conference, held in Nashville in May.

S&T historian wins state book award

Dr. Shannon L. Fogg, assistant professor of history and political science at Missouri S&T, recently received the 2009 Missouri Conference on History Book Award. The award is given to the best book on any historical topic written by a Missouri resident published in 2008. Fogg received the award for her book The Politics of Everyday Life in Vichy France: Foreigners, Undesirables, and Strangers.

Student killed in motorcycle accident
