Gary Forsee, a 1972 civil engineering graduate of Missouri S&T, will join the Kummer Institute Foundation Board of Directors on Jan. 29.

Foresee has a wide range of leadership experience in the telecommunications industry. He has served on numerous public and nonprofit boards, served as president of the University of Missouri System from 2007 to 2011, was a member of the Board of Trustees at S&T, and is an Honorary Knight of St. Patrick and a member of the Order of the Golden Shillelagh.
“We are excited to welcome Gary Forsee to the Kummer Institute Foundation Board,” says Missouri S&T Chancellor Mo Dehghani. “His experience and extraordinary leadership skills, along with his commitment to S&T and passion for education, will be invaluable as we continue to expand the Kummer Institute’s impact to the university and the state of Missouri.”
Forsee says his decision to join the board reflects a long-standing tradition among S&T alumni of staying engaged with the university.
“S&T alumni have always been incredibly supportive of the campus,” Foresee says. “Their support shows when serving or volunteering time and resources. Of course, Fred and June Kummer would be right at the top of any list of supporters — it is an incredible list that continues to grow. It is great to support S&T, and as we all go through our careers and gain experiences, being available to help in any way, to me, is important.”
Forsee says his goals during his service on the board center on supporting the campus, the chancellor and the Kummer Institute as well as contributing where his experience can be helpful.
“I understand the importance of Missouri S&T to the state and the recognition that comes with that,” Forsee says. “My goal is to assist in the great progress already underway, but also help ensure alumni and supporters continue to see the value S&T provides.”
“Over the years, I’ve heard countless companies praise their experiences with S&T graduates,” he says. “I’ve seen firsthand how those experiences translate into leadership and technical roles across global industries, and that kind of impact builds confidence and support in both the corporate and funding communities.”
