Missouri S&T faculty honored for excellence

Twenty-eight faculty members from Missouri University of Science and Technology were honored for excellence and achievement in research, service and teaching during an awards ceremony held on the Missouri S&T campus on Feb. 22.

Each award winner received a monetary stipend funded by industry and alumni contributions.

The 2015 Faculty Excellence Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Richard Dawes, associate professor of chemistry
  • Dr. Jun Fan, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Dr. Patrick Huber, professor of history and political science
  • Dr. John Myers, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering and acting vice provost and dean of the College of Engineering and Computing
  • Dr. Chengshan Xiao, professor of electrical and computer engineering.

The 2015 Faculty Achievement Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Ryan Hutcheson, associate teaching professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Clayton Price, associate teaching professor of computer science
  • Dr. W. Eric Showalter, associate teaching professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering.

The 2015 Faculty Research Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Serhat Hosder, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Dr. Ulrich Jentschura, professor of physics
  • Dr. Xinhua Liang, assistant professor of chemical and biochemical engineering
  • Dr. Dan Lin, associate professor of computer science
  • Dr. Sanjay Madria, professor of computer science
  • Dr. Glenn Morrison, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering
  • Dr. David Pommerenke, professor of electrical and computer engineering
  • Dr. Xiaodong Yang, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.

The 2015 Faculty Service Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Diana Ahmad, Curators’ Teaching Professor of history and political science
  • Dr. Mark Fitch, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering
  • Dr. Audra Merfeld-Langston, associate professor of French and interim chair of arts, languages and philosophy
  • Dr. Jeff Schramm, associate professor of history and political science.

The 2015 Faculty Teaching Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Douglas Bristow, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Dr. Michael Bruening, associate professor of history and political science
  • Dr. Eric Bryan, associate professor of English and technical communication
  • Dr. Xiaoping Du, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
  • Dr. Irina Ivliyeva, associate professor of Russian
  • Dr. Jennifer Leopold, associate professor of computer science
  • Dr. David Wright, associate professor of English and technical communication
  • Dr. David Wronkiewicz, associate professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering.
