The first orchestra concert at Missouri University of Science and Technology this fall will include special guests from the 399th Army Band at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Members of the 399th Army Band will join the Missouri S&T University and Community Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra on stage at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The S&T orchestras will be conducted by Dr. Robert J. Cesario, assistant professor of arts, languages and philosophy.

Tickets are $5 for the public and free for S&T students and youth age 18 and younger. They can be purchased at the door the afternoon of the performance.

“The concert features a wide range of styles that showcase all areas of the orchestra,” says Cesario.

The Chamber Orchestra will begin the concert with Three Renaissance Dances, arranged by Lloyd Conley, and Fantasia on a Theme from Thailand, by Richard Meyer.

Following a brief intermission, the Symphony Orchestra will play Fanfare to the Northern Sky, by Charles Rochester Young, and Tatarian Dances, by Elena Roussanova Lucas.

The concert will conclude with “Jupiter” from The Planets, by Gustav Holst.
