Academy of Computer Science inducts new members

Three graduates of Missouri University of Science and Technology University were inducted as members into the Missouri S&T Academy of Computer Science during a ceremony April 23.


The academy honors outstanding computer scientists for their contributions to the profession and their involvement with Missouri S&T students and faculty. The academy also serves as an advisory group to the computer science department.

New members are:

— Thomas J. DePauw, marketing services manager for Caterpillar Financial Services Corp. DePauw earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from S&T in 1973.

— Dick Lenz, information technology strategist for Caterpillar Financial Services Corp. Lenz earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from S&T in 1974.

— Michael Vahle, director of the Systems Mission Engineering Center at Sandia National Laboratories. Vahle earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from S&T in 1971 and 1973, respectively.
