Joseph Rupp will be the commencement speaker during spring graduation ceremonies at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Commencement ceremonies will be held May 15-16.
Rupp is chair, president and CEO of Olin Corp., a chemical and materials manufacturer based in Clayton, Mo. He started working his way up the ladder at Olin after earning a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from Missouri S&T in 1972.
Rupp also serves as a director of Quanex Corp., headquartered in Houston. He is on the board of the American Chemistry Council and St. Anthony’s Health System (Alton, Ill.); he is a trustee of Maryville University (St. Louis), a member of the Regional Business Council (St. Louis), and a member of Missouri S&T’s Academy of Mines and Metallurgy.
Rupp will deliver two speeches at Missouri S&T. A ceremony for graduate candidates begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 15, at the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. A larger ceremony featuring undergraduates starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, in the multi-purpose building.
Rupp was awarded an honorary professional degree by the university in 1987. This year, he will be given an honorary doctorate.
