The 101st St. Pat’s Parade in Rolla will start at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14.
Students at Missouri University of Science and Technology are already gearing up for the annual St. Pat’s celebration by decorating shillelaghs, growing out beards, organizing Gonzo Games, and picking a Queen of Love and Beauty.
Pine Street in downtown Rolla will once again be painted green in anticipation of the parade.
Following the parade, the unveiling of a bronzed statue of St. Patrick is planned. The unveiling is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Toomey Hall on the S&T campus.
Missouri S&T has a long tradition of celebrating St. Pat’s. Near the beginning of the 20th century, a group of Rolla students declared St. Patrick the patron saint of engineers.
Many of the traditional events, including the parade, are organized by a committee of students known popularly as the St. Pat’s Board.
