Missouri S&T is hosting two events on Oct. 9 which will focus on important programs for transfer students. These events will help strengthen the relationship between the transfer students, their former schools and Missouri S&T.
The 24th Annual S&T Transfer Conference will be held from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center on the Missouri S&T campus. “We expect more than 64 attendees this year,” says Debra Schatz, assistant director of admissions. “This is the largest response we’ve ever had.”
Participants will hear presentations on campus news, curriculum changes and transfer assistance program updates. An afternoon of campus tours and a glass-blowing demonstration will be followed by a transfer student reception.
“The reception is an opportunity for students and advisors or professors from their previous schools to visit,” says Schatz.
Also on Oct. 9, an Executive Forum on Transfer and Articulation will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Silver and Gold Room of the Havener Center. Missouri S&T expects 20 chancellors, presidents and other representatives from partner schools to attend. The forum will include presentations on transfer student survey results and the future of the transfer programs. After joining the conference attendees for lunch, the forum attendees will participate in the signing of updated articulation agreements that outline the transfer process and which courses will transfer.
“The executive forum is a new event this year,” says Schatz. “We hope to further strengthen important partnerships with our more than 53 Missouri S&T partner colleges and universities. These partnerships are critical to the success of hundreds of new transfer students enrolling at Missouri S&T each year.”
