The University of Missouri-Rolla Theatre Program will open its 2007-08
performance season by honoring former UMR theatre director John Woodfin with a
production titled “A Tribute to 15 Years of UMR Theatre Magic".
The performance will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, in Leach Theatre of
UMR’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. Admission is free with
general seating available on a first-com, first-serve basis. A reception will
immediately follow the show.
A 50-member cast will present 31 different one-to-three minute scenes
involving acting, singing and dancing from every production directed by Woodfin
during his tenure at UMR. Scenes and songs from popular shows such as
“Camelot", “The Odd Couple", “Little Shop of Horrors",
“Harvey", “South Pacific", “My Fair Lady", and “Oklahoma!" will
be included.
Woodfind retired this summer after spending 15 years teaching classes and
directing theater productions at UMR, as well as offering guidance to local
theater groups like Ozark Actors Theatre.
“John Woodfin is one of those rare and wonderful individuals who has
dedicated his life to advancing theater in the Rolla area", says Dr. John
Cimics, assistant professor of arts, languages and philosophy at UMR and
current UMR theatre director.
