The University of Missouri-Rolla Symphony Orchestra and the UMR Chamber
Orchestra will perform their first concert of the season at 8 p.m. Thursday,
Oct. 11, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
This will be the premier concert for the new UMR Orchestra conductor, Dr.
Robert J. Cesario.

Tickets are $3 and can be purchased at the door the night of the
performance.

The Chamber Orchestra will perform “Ancient Aires and Dances" by
Ottorino Respighi and “Violin Concerto in g minor" by Antonio Vivaldi,
featuring soloist Justin Cox, a UMR psychology major and music minor from
Kansas City, Mo.

The Symphony Orchestra will perform “The Two Blind Men of Toledo
Overture" by Etienne-Nicolas Mehul, “American Folk Rhapsody No. 1" by
Clare Grundman, “Star Wars Epic-Part I" by John Williams, and “Russian
Sailor’s Dance" by Reinhold Gliere.

“The orchestras are particularly rewarding groups combining in their
membership people from our local community as well as more traditional
university students and some faculty," says Cesario. “They give us the
opportunity to come together as one to make great music and enjoy each other as
well as our artistic endeavor."

The orchestras will give their second concert of the season at 3 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 2, in Leach Theater.
