Fireworks will be visible near the campus of the University of Missouri-Rolla on many dates this summer.
The fireworks will be shot around 9 p.m. on June 3, June 8, June 17, June 18, June 22, June 25 and July 9. The displays are part of UMR’s Explosives Camp and other summer camps at UMR.
Dr. Paul Worsey, a mining engineering professor and explosives expert, will supervise the fireworks displays. UMR is the only university in the nation that offers a minor in explosives engineering.
The Sunday displays (June 3 and June 17) will be shot near the Havener Center on campus. The Friday displays (June 8 and June 22) will be larger and will be shot from the Materials Research Center (MRC) parking lot on campus. The Monday displays (June 18, June 25, July 9) will also be shot from the MRC parking lot.
The MRC lot will be closed at 4:30 p.m. on June 8, June 18, June 22, June 25 and July 9. Any vehicles left in the lot will be towed. Long-term parking in the lot during the summer is not advised.
The general public is welcome to congregate near the Havener Center or elsewhere on campus to view the fireworks, which will also be visible from most locations near campus.
