The Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach (CEO) at the University of Missouri-Rolla is presenting a class on how to successfully recruit, train and retain employees from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the Meramec-Gasconade Room of the Havener Center on the UMR campus.
Barry White, program manager for CEO, says he has estimated the cost to hire and train a single employee at approximately $3,000. “And that was five years ago,” White says. “It has to cost more these days. Yet, businesses turn employees almost as fast as they turn inventory.”
The CEO class will cover recruiting strategies, legal concerns and methods to reduce turnover.
“Hiring the right people is perhaps the most difficult part of running a business,” White says, “and learning the right techniques through trial and error is costly. Business owners who attend the class will pick up some new tools to work with, which equates to increased business and a better bottom line.”
The general public is invited to sign up for the class, which costs $75. Registration is available online at http://www.missouribusiness.net/cgi-bin/calendar/. For more information, call 573–341-4690 or email umrceo@mst.edu.
