Eighteen University of Missouri-Rolla faculty members received Faculty Excellence Awards from UMR Chancellor John F. Carney III during a dinner Dec. 15.

The 2005 recipients of UMR’s Faculty Excellence Award gathered for a dinner Dec. 15.

The awards are given annually to recognize teaching, research and service excellence. Each award winner receives a $2,500 stipend funded by industry and alumni contributions.

Receiving the 2005 awards were:     

– Dr. Venkat Allada, associate professor of engineering management

– Dr. Estella Atekwana, professor of geology and geophysics

– Dr. Massimo Bertino, assistant professor of physics

– Dr. Martin Bohner, associate professor of mathematics and statistics

– Dr. James Drewniak, professor of electrical and computer engineering

– Dr. Greg Hilmas, associate professor of materials science and engineering

– Dr. Vy Khoi Le, associate professor of mathematics and statistics

– Dr. Robert Landers, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering

– Dr. Jennifer Leopold, assistant professor of computer science

– Dr. Anne Maglia, assistant professor of biological sciences

– Dr. James Martin, assistant professor of psychology

– Dr. John McManus, assistant professor of history and political science

– Dr. Rajiv Mishra, associate professor of materials science and engineering

– Dr. Matt O’Keefe, associate professor of materials science and engineering

– Dr. Jeffrey Smith, associate professor of materials science and engineering   

– Dr. Robert Stone, associate professor of basic engineering

– Dr. Ganesh Venayagamoorthy, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering

– Dr. Thomas Vojta, assistant professor of physics

One of the 2005 Faculty Excellence Award winners, Dr. Rajiv Mishra, also received an engraved crystal flame for earning the award five or more times since its inception in 1986.
