The University of Missouri-Rolla Choir and the UMR Chamber Orchestra will perform their first joint concert of the semester 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18. at the First Presbyterian Church, 919 East 10th St., in Rolla. The performance is free and open to the public.
The performance will include the Mass in G Major by Franz Schubert, performed by both the UMR Choir and the UMR Chamber Orchestra. The piece will include solos by UMR students Marian Christiansen, Kim Bieser, Erin DeVries, Emilie Els, Phillip Ponzer, Zach DeGraffenreid, Nick Hamilton and Michael Luehrman. The UMR Choir will also perform Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Faure with piano accompaniment by UMR student Amy Nisbett, and the Chamber Orchestra will present “Farewell Symphony” by Josef Haydn.
Dr. Donald Miller, assistant professor of music at UMR, is director of the UMR Chamber Orchestra. The choir is led by Lorie Francis, a lecturer in the arts, languages and philosophy department at UMR.
