Two students from UMR recently accepted national board positions with the Architectural Engineering Institute, an organization within the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Architectural engineering seniors Amir Kukic of St. Louis was recently elected president and Cynthia Mulnik of Fenton, Mo., was elected secretary and treasurer.

"The national officer elections were held during the first weeks of November," Mulnik says. "AEI used the Internet to hold elections and nominations and votes were cast with the use of email. Each university or college with an AEI chapter was allowed to cast one vote for each of the positions."

This is the first semester a student chapter of AEI has been an official UMR organization. Dr. John Myers, assistant professor of civil engineering at UMR, serves as the organization’s faculty advisor.
