Ten Missouri University of Science and Technology employees were honored for their contributions to the campus during the university’s Staff Appreciation Day celebration on Thursday, May 30. Candidates for the awards were nominated by faculty, staff and students. The winners were selected based on their job performance, relationships with associates and dedication to Missouri S&T.

Minteer named to American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Shelley Minteer, director of the Kummer Institute Center for Resource Sustainability and a professor of chemistry at Missouri S&T, has been named to the 2024 class of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS), an honorary society that celebrates the excellence of its members. Minteer is the first Missouri S&T faculty member to join this society. The induction ceremony for the 2024 new members will be held in September in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Reece Watson, a senior in computer science and computer engineering from Edwardsville, Illinois, has been named Missouri S&T’s Renaissance Student for 2024. Watson received the award, which included a $1,000 prize, on Thursday, May 2, at a ceremony hosted by the arts, languages, and philosophy department.
