Contractors will install a leased transformer in the campus substation at the University of Missouri-Rolla on Wednesday, Dec. 27. This will require a total power outage for all university buildings on the main campus (generally between Pine and State streets and between 10th and 16th streets, including the Havener Center, McNutt Hall and the Student Recreation Center).

The work, which could cause outages lasting up to 24 hours, is contingent upon weather conditions. Buildings fed directly by Rolla Municipal Utilities will not be affected.

The following buildings will not be impacted by the power outage on Dec. 27: Campus Support Facility, Bureau of Mines Buildings, Residence Hall No. 1, Quad residences, Thomas Jefferson Hall, South Central Regional Professional Development Center, General Services, Comp Flow Lab, Temporary Research Facility, Rock Mechanics, Student Design, Student Health Center, Southwestern Bell Cultural Center, 1304 North Pine, 14th Street Building and Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

UMR Staff members who need to find work areas in buildings with power on Dec. 27 may contact Joyce Abbott at 341-4122.

Also, cables between the Materials Research Center (MRC) and the Wilson Library are scheduled to be replaced starting on Monday, Dec. 18, when power will be turned off to the library from 9 a.m. to noon. Power will be turned off to MRC from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Dec. 19. Power will be turned off to both the library and MRC from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 21.

Cables feeding the University Center are scheduled to be repaired on Tuesday, Dec. 26, and power will be turned off in that building from 8-11 a.m.

Laboratory equipment should be secured as necessary. Campus departments with special temporary power needs should contact Mike Amick at 341-4252.
