Missouri S&T alumnus establishes $1 million scholarship endowment

Missouri University of Science and Technology graduate and trustee Steve Wunning has established a $1 million scholarship endowment at Missouri S&T. He says that the Steven H. and Lyneve C. Wunning Scholarship Fund recognizes the role that the university played in his life and career.

“Going to Rolla was one of the best decisions I ever made,” says Wunning, who earned a bachelor of science degree in metallurgical engineering from Missouri S&T in 1973 and spent his career with Caterpillar Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Missouri S&T awards Chancellor’s Scholarships

Missouri University of Science and Technology awarded Chancellor’s Scholarships to 17 high school seniors for the 2015-2016 academic year.

To qualify for the scholarship, students must be Missouri residents, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.75 or rank in the upper 10 percent of their high school graduation class and have ACT composite scores of 31 or better. The students also must complete a 750-word essay and visit campus for an interview. [Read more…]

S&T student receives $2,000 SIM scholarship

Emma Johannes of Topeka, Kan., a junior in information science and technology at Missouri University of Science and Technology, is one of five Missouri college students to receive a $2,000 scholarship from the St. Louis Chapter of the Society for Information Management.

Johannes was recognized for her outstanding accomplishments and demonstrated leadership in the business and information technology department, where she serves as a student networking assistant, and in Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, where she serves as social media chair.

The 2014 SIM Scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a degree in computer science, computer networking, information technology or information science, or a related field.

Recipients must exhibit leadership potential in information management. Past winners have demonstrated leadership in community service, initiative, collaboration and academic performance, as well as clarity in their career goals.

The scholarship was presented at the 2014 Gateway to Innovation Conference in St. Louis on April 23.

Three Missouri S&T alumni create scholarship

A group of young alumni from Missouri University of Science and Technology are offering a $500 scholarship to a student planning to attend Missouri S&T in the fall of 2014. Students wishing to be considered for the scholarship must apply by July 1.
