Missouri S&T geothermal system exceeds first-year goals

Geothermal energy savings at Missouri S&TAs the first year of operation closes for Missouri University of Science and Technology’s geothermal energy system, university officials announce that the system has exceeded its projected campus impact.

Missouri S&T’s geothermal energy system, which allows energy to be stored in and reclaimed from well fields located throughout the campus, provides heating and cooling to 17 buildings on campus and chilled water to the majority of campus buildings. UMR air whistle test update

Due to a lack of air volume, UMR’s campus air whistle failed to produce enough sound to be heard across campus during its Friday, July 6, test. There was enough air pressure, but not enough air volume reaching the whistle to allow it to reach its full sound potential, physical facilities officials say.
