Derek Carpenter’s life came to a standstill in December 2012.

Fresh out of college with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Missouri S&T, he was ready to move home to Colorado to start his career as a lab manager.

Then the diagnosis came. On a routine checkup, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. He went through eight months of treatment that kept him often bedridden, and often in debilitating pain. [Read more…]

Throughout the fall season, visitors to Leach Theatre can view a display of abstract paintings by artist Ramsay Wise. Wise, a Rolla native and adjunct lecturer of English at Missouri University of Science and Technology, primarily uses spray paint and acrylics to blur the line between abstract and representational pieces.

’50 Years of Bogantics’ opens at Leach Theatre

The show features pieces by Dr. James J. Bogan Jr., Curators’ Teaching Professor emeritus of art history and film at Missouri S&T, and includes selections from Bogan’s books, poster-art, photography and artifacts from the classroom.

First Renaissance Student Award granted at Missouri S&T

The award, which includes a $1,000 prize, was presented by the school’s arts, languages, and philosophy department.

‘Volunteer of the Year’ honored at KMST Membership Reunion

Luce Myers received KMST’s “Volunteer of the Year” award at the annual KMST Membership Reunion held April 25.

Missouri University of Science and Technology’s public radio station KMST honored Luce Myers as “Volunteer of the Year” at the station’s annual Membership Reunion (formerly membership picnic) that was held April 25 at the Lions Club Den in Rolla.
