Spring enrollment numbers announced at Missouri S&T

Enrollment for the first day of classes at Missouri University of Science and Technology was 7,834. This is 1.2 percent less than spring enrollment in 2016, says Deanne Jackson, Missouri S&T registrar.

The spring semester at Missouri S&T began on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Last spring, 7,931 students were enrolled on the first day of the spring semester. [Read more…]

Thomas R. Voss, retired CEO of Ameren and a member of the University of Missouri System Board of Curators, spoke about the importance of safety, diversity and thinking every day during commencement ceremonies at Missouri University of Science and Technology on Saturday, Dec. 17.

In his commencement address, Voss told graduates that he is thankful for the education he received at Missouri S&T and the friends he made, but that he is most thankful for learning how to think. [Read more…]

Missouri S&T earns 12 awards in annual CASE competition

case-2016Missouri University of Science and Technology received 12 awards for excellence in alumni magazines, video production, graphic design, digital publications, research publications, student recruitment publications, web and interactive marketing, and photography from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) during the joint conference of CASE District V and District VI held Dec. 11-13 in Chicago.

Missouri S&T won a grand gold award, seven gold awards, three silver awards and a bronze award in the annual competition. [Read more…]

Emerson Electric Hall is vacated as local emergency response teams extinguish a fire on the roof in Rolla, MO on Thursday Dec. 8, 2016. Sam O’Keefe/Missouri S&T

Emerson Hall at Missouri University of Science and Technology will be closed until further notice following a fire on the roof of the structure on Thursday, Dec. 8. University officials decided to keep Emerson Hall closed following a thorough inspection of the building.

S&T students win WARDJet challenge — and new waterjet

The Missouri S&T Rock Mechanics Explosive Research Center team won a new WARDjet waterjet during a competition in September in Chicago. Wearing green shirts, from left team members Jay Schafler, Marty Langenderfer, John Rueschmann and Jeff Heniff put together a WARDjet to win the competition. It was installed at Missouri S&T on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

A team of Missouri University of Science and Technology students helped bring a new waterjet cutting machine to campus — and the machine will help propel research into expanding areas and show new uses for the technology.

During the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) Sept. 12-17 in Chicago and as part of the Smartforce Student Summit Build It! Challenge, sponsored by WARDjet, student teams competed against industry professionals. WARDJet’s build-off competition offered teams a chance to win a waterjet cutting machine. [Read more…]

Leach Theatre to welcome true accounts of soldiers on the front with ‘Letters Home’
