Hispanic Film Series starts Jan. 27 at Missouri S&T

The Spanish program in the arts, languages, and philosophy department at Missouri University of Science and Technology will present its third Hispanic Film Series during the spring semester at Missouri S&T. This event is open to the public and free of charge. The series consists of five films presented at 7 p.m. Fridays. All films are in Spanish or Portuguese with English subtitles.

Merfeld-Langston named chair of arts, languages, and philosophy at S&T

Dr. Audra Merfeld-Langston, associate professor of French at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been named chair of the department of arts, languages, and philosophy. She served as interim chair of the department from Jan. 1-Oct. 31.

“In the nearly one year that she has spent as interim department chair, Dr. Merfeld-Langston has advocated tirelessly for her faculty, and has worked hard to connect them with meaningful opportunities for professional development,” says Dr. Stephen Roberts, vice provost and dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business at Missouri S&T. Rolla artist paints the town red … and green and purple

Throughout the fall season, visitors to Leach Theatre can view a display of abstract paintings by artist Ramsay Wise. Wise, a Rolla native and adjunct lecturer of English at Missouri University of Science and Technology, primarily uses spray paint and acrylics to blur the line between abstract and representational pieces.

Missouri S&T’s Free Fall Film Festival begins Aug. 30

The first film in the series will be “Spotlight,” a biographical drama that follows The Boston Globe’s “Spotlight” team, the oldest continuing investigative journalism team in the country.
