10 S&T grads named Alumni of Influence

Ten graduates of Missouri University of Science and Technology were honored as Missouri S&T’s 2016 Alumni of Influence during a special event Saturday, Nov. 5, at Hasselmann Alumni House on the Missouri S&T campus.

This is the second time Missouri S&T has honored a group of graduates as influential alumni. The inaugural celebration was held in 2011. For the 2016 celebration, a committee made up of 2011 honorees reviewed nominations and made recommendations to select the 10 2016 honorees. [Read more…]

S&T students win WARDJet challenge — and new waterjet

The Missouri S&T Rock Mechanics Explosive Research Center team won a new WARDjet waterjet during a competition in September in Chicago. Wearing green shirts, from left team members Jay Schafler, Marty Langenderfer, John Rueschmann and Jeff Heniff put together a WARDjet to win the competition. It was installed at Missouri S&T on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

A team of Missouri University of Science and Technology students helped bring a new waterjet cutting machine to campus — and the machine will help propel research into expanding areas and show new uses for the technology.

During the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) Sept. 12-17 in Chicago and as part of the Smartforce Student Summit Build It! Challenge, sponsored by WARDjet, student teams competed against industry professionals. WARDJet’s build-off competition offered teams a chance to win a waterjet cutting machine. [Read more…]

Missouri S&T Observatory to host nebula viewing in November

the_great_orion_nebula_m42The public is invited to view the Great Orion Nebula, one of the brightest of its kind in the night sky, through Missouri University of Science and Technology’s 16-inch telescope on Monday, Nov. 28. The viewing of Mars previously scheduled for Nov. 14 has been cancelled and replaced by the nebula viewing.

Three Missouri S&T choirs to perform Nov. 14
