A mine rescue team from Missouri University of Science and Technology recently finished fifth in a simulated rescue competition sponsored by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
During the competition in New Iberia, La., Missouri S&T competed against 11 teams from the mining industry.
Another team of students from Missouri S&T is competing May 19-22 at the Southwestern Mine Rescue Association Competition in Carlsbad, N.M.
The teams are judged on how well they react to simulated mine disasters.
