Perrin Roller of Spring, Texas, vice president for well engineering for Devon Energy Corp., was elected president of the Miner Alumni Association at Missouri University of Science and Technology during the university's Homecoming celebration Oct. 19. He takes over for Darlene Ramsay, director of advancement services at Missouri S&T and Miner Alumni Association past president.
The Miner Alumni Association represents and serves more than 50,000 alumni of the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, the University of Missouri-Rolla and Missouri S&T. The association's priorities include providing scholarship support to students and connecting alumni to the campus through Missouri S&T Magazine and in 51 sections worldwide.
Roller, who also serves as adjunct professor of geological and petroleum engineering at Missouri S&T, received a bachelor of science degree in geological engineering from Missouri S&T in 1980. In 1997, the department honored him with a professional degree.
Roller is a registered professional engineer in Texas and California. He is active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Marine Technology Society, the American Association of Drilling Engineers and the American Petroleum Institute.
In addition to his involvement with the alumni association, Roller is active as an alumnus of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha. He is also a member of the petroleum engineering and geological engineering advisory boards, the Academy of Mines and Metallurgy and the Order of the Golden Shillelagh.
Roller and his wife, Brenda Gillis, live in Spring, Texas. They have two daughters. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Roller of Washington, Mo.
