Miners set modern-day scoring record with 68-0 win over Lincoln

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri S&T Miners football team established a modern-day scoring record for one game by blasting host Lincoln University 68-0 Saturday afternoon (Nov. 1, 2008).

The Miners (5-4) ran out to a 35-0 lead after one quarter, getting two scoring runs by David Shields, two scoring catches by Mike Greaving and a 62-yard scoring catch by Bryan Crider. S&T increased its lead to 48-0 by halftime.

Missouri S&T had 582 yards of total offense, while holding the Blue Tigers (1-7) to 51 and forcing seven Lincoln turnovers.

The Miners' previous scoring in a modern day game was 62 on two occasions and the 68 points were the most scored by an S&T team since 1923.
